What goes around comes around, does it?

So I’ve been thinking a lot about Karma lately. I am a big believer in it! I think of it like a boomerang, you launch out good and the boomerang eventually brings good back to you. Same thing with the bad. Or is it?!

Wikipedia’s definition of Karma is: “The spiritual principle of cause and effect where intent and actions of an individual influence the future of that individual. Good intent and good deed contribute to good karma and future happiness, while bad intent and bad deed contribute to bad karma and future suffering”

Ok, I know it seems pretty far fetched that if we do good deeds consistently we’re always gonna have good things happen to us. There is unfortunately always going to be some sort of difficult or unpleasant situation occur, that is life! However, it would be a wonderful concept if the do-gooders got all the good back to them and the awful people got all the bad! Like I have said in many of my blogs, I’ve always been proud to say I’m a kind person! Sticking up for the little guy, never making fun of anyone or bullying, treating elders and anyone with respect, never doing anything that I wouldn’t want done to myself, always being there for anyone who needs me… so on and so forth, or at least I try my best at it! The last year I’d have to say is making me wonder where my many boomerangs have got stuck to, because they haven’t returned yet. Of course, there’s been some amazing things happen for sure, I’m definitely not saying it’s all bad. It’s just a general wondering! I got a dog, have had best friends get engaged and seen wonderful people get the happiness they deserve. Which makes my soul all warm and fuzzy! Just an idea from the brain of this hippie but in this world of so much hate it would be so lovely if we, the good people, got rewards for being part of the good population of the world!! I’m sure many of us feel this way! You’re working hard at your job and the slacker ends up getting a promotion. You know a pretty unkind human being and they’re living the life while you’re struggling to get by. I went through a situation this past year where a pretty awful person ended up on top where I got left in the dust. They were not a good person and in the battle of them and I, I lost. I was honest, while they lied. I was kind, while they weren’t. I was humble, while they were arrogant and I’m the one who didn’t prosper?! That’s what is mind boggling to me and where the concept of Karma should come into play! That boomerang is probably stuck trying to make it around their big head, so understandably it’s going to take a while to get back to me. Finding a new career has also had some interesting turn of events, let’s just say I still haven’t found my calling yet! These are the kind of situations that make me wonder, if I’m the one being a good person why are murphy’s law situations happening to me?! And why are the Donald Trumps of the world gazillionaires and living the dream…. HUH?!?!

I was talking to my best friend the other day, she’s seriously my psychiatrist. I owe her A LOT in therapy bills. Let me tell you, I do not know what I would do without my girlfriends! Anyways, her always so wise advice to me was no matter what life throws at you, because it will throw at you some pretty intense situations, continuously try to stay positive. Which at times can be difficult yes, but all you have to do is try! Also, we need to do the best on our part. What people do, feel, speak, act, is their decision and although it might affect us emotionally, they have to live with their actions. Karma comes back around to them as well, just might take a little while! So, while here I am thinking because I’m being a good person I should get only good things happening to me, the world does not work like that! Wouldn’t it be wonderful if it did tho!! Donald Trump would be poor, with no beautiful ladies on his arm, living in a little shack and having to know the struggle of having normal people wages and paying bills on a budget!

So to end this blog of me venting, my birthday is in 2 weeks from today and to me birthdays and New years are for new beginnings. A fresh start! Maybe changing ways you’re not so fond of about yourself, making a personal goal happen, saving money etc. Mine is one, to not let peoples actions affect me so much and two, be the more positive person I was before I started letting peoples actions and life events do so!

The hard times are just a bump in the road to make me stronger and my karmic boomerangs are on their way back! Life is definitely a roller coaster, hurling you through ups and downs but no matter what we should always enjoy the ride! Ok that was cheesy but you got the point! So for all you do-gooders who feel like me, wondering when the good karma will come back to you, don’t get discouraged! Keep being your great, kind self.
