Stand up!!

Obama Where Art Thou??

Trumped…

It has only been weeks since the world shifted, since history took an unexpected, gut-wrenching turn and placed Donald Trump at the helm of the United States. And yet, it already feels like an era we weren’t prepared for, as though we’ve been dragged back in time instead of moving forward.

For me, personally, wrapping my mind around the idea that Donald Trump is now President of the United States feels impossible. It’s not just about politics, it’s about what this moment signifies, what it means for humanity, for progress, for basic decency.

Let’s start with the obvious contradiction: Trump claims he’s not racist. But banning immigrants from entering the so-called “land of the free” isn’t racist? Nearly 60,000 visas revoked. Tens of thousands of lives disrupted, families separated, futures unravelled. And for what? To push a narrative of fear. A border wall to keep out “bad hombres.” Baseless accusations that he lost the popular vote because undocumented immigrants cast ballots against him. Surrounding himself with known racists to shape policy. Dismantling diplomatic relationships, even with America’s allies.

And let’s not forget the surge of hate crimes the day after his election, a tidal wave of violence fuelled by the rhetoric of the man who now sits in the Oval Office. The same man who casually removed the statue of Martin Luther King Jr. from the White House as if history itself was an inconvenience.

And then, there’s his so-called ‘love’ for women. Let’s be clear, Donald Trump does not love women. He collects them. He objectifies them. He belittles them. He disrespects them. This is a man who openly admitted that if his daughter weren’t his daughter, he’d date her. A man who has publicly referred to women as fat, pigs, slobs, disgusting animals, mere objects for consumption, only valuable if they meet his aesthetic criteria.

A man who once kept a fat picture of his own employee in his desk drawer as a means of humiliation, a way to remind her she wasn’t “perfect” in his eyes. A man who has been quoted saying, “You have to treat ‘em like sh*t.” Who has compared women to buildings, claiming he loses interest once they’ve been “built.” Who paraded beauty pageant contestants before him, separating the ones he found attractive from the ones he didn’t, because of course he did.

And let’s not forget his infamous tweet about Hillary Clinton: “If Hillary can’t satisfy her husband, what makes her think she can satisfy America?” As if a woman’s value is measured by the men in her life. As if leadership, intelligence, and qualifications are irrelevant if she doesn’t meet his standard.

His sexism isn’t subtle. It isn’t accidental. It’s a calculated display of power, a reflection of how he sees the world, where men reign and women exist to serve.

Then, there’s his obsession with Twitter. Presidents should lead with integrity, diplomacy, wisdom. Trump? He leads with impulsive, self-serving, inflammatory tweets.

@realDonaldTrump: “An ‘extremely credible source’ has called my office and told me that @BarackObama’s birth certificate is a fraud.”

@realDonaldTrump: “If crazy @megynkelly didn’t cover me so much on her terrible show, her ratings would totally tank. She is so average in so many ways!”

@realDonaldTrump: “I would like to extend my best wishes to all, even the haters and losers, on this special date, September 11th.”

Yes. That actually happened. And the list goes on. A president who weaponizes social media, who uses written characters to bully, spread falsehoods, and stoke division. A president who tweets like a middle schooler throwing a tantrum. A president who thinks “winning” means belittling others.

And that’s just the beginning. He has declared the court system a threat to national security because they ruled against him. He publicly condemned a private company for discontinuing his daughter’s failing clothing line. He accused American intelligence agencies of turning the country into Nazi Germany. He cut funding to the United Nations. He threw a fit over his press secretary being impersonated by a woman. He removed the White House webpage on climate change and replaced it with a promise to drill for oil on federal land. He openly discussed reviving a nuclear arms race. And we’re only weeks in.

Meanwhile, Barack Obama carried himself with grace, intelligence, and dignity for eight years. A man who rescued the country from a recession. Who cut unemployment rates in half. Who gave millions access to healthcare. Who prioritized diplomacy over division. Who led by example, as a husband, a father, a leader. And now? Now we have this. A man whose defining traits are arrogance, ignorance, and a complete disregard for anyone but himself.

America didn’t just elect a president. They elected a reality TV star with a temper. A businessman with no moral compass. A man who sees leadership as a game where the loudest, most obnoxious voice wins.

And the truth? We are going backward. Instead of overcoming racism, sexism, and division, we are fueling them. Instead of moving toward peace, we are reigniting conflicts. Instead of standing united, we are being torn apart.

But we are not powerless. We can choose how we respond. We can choose to be better than the example being set before us. We can choose kindness over cruelty, respect over ridicule, integrity over arrogance.

Because at the end of the day, it isn’t about politics. It’s about humanity. And no matter how dark things feel, we still have the power to create change.

So let’s be better. Let’s do better. Because the world needs it now more than ever.

Always Peace & Love xoxo
