Light at the end of the tunnel
October is not only a very special month to me as it is my birthday month but also because it is Domestic Violence Awareness month. I had written an article on my own experience with domestic violence a couple years ago, since I am all for sharing my experiences and spreading awareness of any kind. Sadly, and not at all surprisingly, I received some negative backlash asking me to take it down. Some people from my past were worried about how it made them look.. The nerve, eh! BUT in most cases of domestic violence individuals close to the abusers usually tend to keep a blind eye and enable them,…

Bye, Bye fear!
In the spirit of this spooky day, I thought i’d talk about fears. Not the type of fears you’re thinking like Micheal Myers stalking babysitters with his white mask, the creepy clown who drags kids into sewers or my personal biggest fear of a big fish with sharp teeth terrorizing a boat full of vacationers. Yes I know it’s not some demonized clown but sharks are really scary!! I’m talking about real fears. Fears of what can realistically happen. Well, let’s hope Micheal Myers isn’t actually real! “The only thing we have to fear is fear itself” -Franklin Roosevelt We all have different fears. Some fear being unsuccessful in life,…

Let us be better humans
I just finished watching a movie called “mother!”. For anyone who is going to watch it sooner or later, MAJOR spoiler alert with this blog. If you’re like my best friend and can’t even watch a trailer for a movie because it’ll ruin it, exit… blog… now!! So the movie depicts a story of a married couple played by Javier Bardem and my girl Jennifer Lawrence. Now researching this thriller after watching it, since there was a big HUH in my mind after it was done, the story is said to be inspired by the book of Genesis. For those who don’t know too much about the bible, the book…

Breakthrough!
Breakthrough… She sat in her house dress. She loved dresses. Hair disheveled as always, writing glasses on. She thought of the past, not so much experiences, but lessons she has learned. Evaluating who she’s been the last while, feeling somber. Not at where her life was at this moment, she was happy on all counts of that matter, but more so who she had been lately. She always thought of herself as strong, never letting life’s occurrences change who she was and for the past 10 years she never did. It had turned opposite lately. What a violation of all she represented, she thought. She refused to let that happen…

Ode to women
Girl power! On Wednesday March 8th, we celebrated International Women’s Day. #WCW (women crush wednesday) so appropriate! Every year on that date we show our appreciation for strong, independent, beautiful females! I have always been such an admirer of powerful women! Ground breakers, teachers, advocates, girl bosses, women with a voice… Maya Angelou, Oprah Winfrey, Rosa Parks, Marilyn Monroe, Michelle Obama, Anna Wintour (although she scares the crap out of me lol) Ellen DeGeneres, just to name a few! Women are incredible creatures!! Now I can say i’m not a fan of the whole “women are better than men” thing… I don’t think anyone is better than anyone! Males have…

Dear best friend…
Dear best friend… Truly my number one best friends are my parents and always will be. They have been the best parents this hippie wild child could ask for!! My advice givers, travel partners, teachers, amazing role models in life and love! We’ve of course had our ups and downs like most parent/offspring relationships but no matter what I can always count on them. They will forever be my number one loves! My apologies for the craziness I’ve put you through parents, hasn’t been TOO bad tho right?! Having a sibling tho is a very different bond, you can tell them things that you wouldn’t want to chat about with…
